"Hooky" at Stacie's

Okay, so it wasn't truly "hooky," but it almost felt like it since we were having fun while others were studying and taking tests.
Our parents agreed that I could come over this morning and play games since neither of us had to go to school to take our finals that day. My mom still had to go to work, so she stopped by on her way (after first forgetting to) and dropped me off at Stacie's house.
After eating a few blueberry muffins, courtesy of Stacie's mom, Stacie and I tried to figure out what to do. I had brought some Guitar Hero games that Stacie didn't have, and after arguing of who should pick what we do, we finally chose to play one of them.
Stacie said that she was a little rusty, so we might end up getting booed off stage.
We didn't, thankfully, but almost did.
And it wasn't because of Stacie.
Turns out, I was a little rusty, too, not to mention with a certain guitar. (One of my guitars doesn't have perfect timing, so you have to adjust to it while playing.)
So after many songs, we began to grow bored of Guitar Hero and found ourselves, once again, arguing that the other should decide what we do next.
Stacie finally told me three choices that I had to pick from. I eliminated one, and somewhat swayed her towards a certain choice. That choice was Silent Hill 2.
I've played the game on my own and did not enjoy it. However, I love watching others play! (I think it's because I put myself in the person's shoes of whom I'm controlling.)
Anyways, Stacie played and we were constantly freaked out by noises in the game, but we loved every minute of it! Often, we had to pause the game because we'd go through a door and there'd be loud music, which usually indicated something was about to happen.
Many times we found ourselves asking, "Whatcha lookin' at James?" out loud, because he looks at objects that we can pick up that are on the ground and, quite often, are objects we cannot see easily as we make James run by them.** But this did get annoying when a new character had to go with him and James would look at her when she was close. Of course, we often mistook it as he saw something, but he didn't; he was just looking at the other character, which, amusingly, was a she. When this would happen, Stacie and I would shout, "Stop looking at her, James!"
After we got to a good stopping point, we quit. We talked about other Silent Hill games and the order of their storyline. Eventually, we decided to play another game. This time, I chose it practically right away. It was Mario Party for the Wii. (I love this game and wish I owned it!)
Near the end of the game, my mom called and told me that she was on her way. I looked at the clock and saw it was just barely 3 PM. I sighed because I thought she would leave when school was over like usual, instead of when she could actually get off work. Stacie and I hurried to finish our game and realized we wouldn't be able to make macaroni and cheese together! We had planned on this because we both love mac'n cheese, but we had munched on cheese puffs/balls throughout the time we were playing the Silent Hill game, so we weren't hungry yet. While we ate them, we decided we would just eat mac'n cheese while we watched the Silent Hill movie since I hadn't seen it yet. (Apparently we forgot about it and played Mario Party and also lost track of time)
So I packed up all of my Guitar Hero stuff while it wasn't my turn during the game.  My mom had arrived about 8 minutes before I was actually able to go out there. Stacie came out there to say goodbye and hurried back inside because she remembered she had macaroni noodles cooking on the stove. (Stacie had turned on the water for mac'n cheese just before my mom called, hoping to be able to make it and eat it before 3:20, and had to add the noodles right before I left.)

I had lots of fun today! Stacie and I figure we should do it again so we can actually do everything we had wanted to do (watch Silent Hill and make macaroni). Hopefully, we can sometime soon!

**In case you didn't know, James is the main character of the Silent Hill 2 game.

NOTE: I definitely left out things, but I figured people were getting tired of my "books" that I write, so I tried to summarize some stuff.

Life's Little Lessons

As you can probably tell, I just experienced one of Life's little lessons.
I was going to check my grades on my laptop when there was a knock at the front door. My mom grabbed Ginger and shut her in a room for a brief moment so she could go see who was at the door. It was a friend of the family who was there to talk to my dad about some things.
After my mom let him in, I was told to take Ginger into my room with me, since I was already headed there. (I had to take her so she wouldn't annoy us with her barking at being cut off from everyone.) Well, she ended up annoying me with her whining. I tried to ignore her by getting on my laptop. Well, turns out, my laptop annoyed me, too. You know those times when you shut down an old, full-screen program and it causes the screen to inverse it colors and make the icons larger? Well, that's what happened. So, while I was having issues with getting my laptop screen back to normal, Ginger continued to whine. I constantly told her to stop, but she wouldn't. Eventually, I stepped outside my door and went to the kitchen where my mom was. I asked her if I could please let Ginger out of my room, but she wasn't sure if my dad and his friend would be coming back inside or not. So, instead of risking the possibility of them coming in and Ginger tearing the man's leg and jeans to shreds, she said Ginger had to stay in there a little longer.
Annoyed as I was, I vented to my mother of my recent problems (above) and she said she'd take Ginger to the sunroom. She argued that even if Ginger did bark, at least I wouldn't have to hear her. (That part made me feel really selfish...)
I went back to my room and stared at my laptop. I had turned it off, hoping that would fix it, but it didn't. Also, it was taking forever to run "Startup Settings..." And when I came back to my room, it was still on this screen.
I forced it to shut down and tried again. I had the same results and sighed. Then, I paused as I thought of something that could fix the display. I tried it out, and it worked! Shortly afterwards, my computer finished running startup settings. I was so happy! Even if it was a small victory, it meant I didn't have to go to the HelpDesk at our school (which I am thankful that I haven't had to go).
I looked up and thought, "You know? I would've solved this earlier if I had just calmed down."

And it hit me. What I just experienced was one of those Life lessons that people are always referring to.
I felt like an idiot, and also a genius for just realizing this.
Relieved of my anger, I brought Ginger back to my room and found I felt much better.

Hey Best-est Buddy

(Side Note: Cheer up, you! ;D)

Hey Best-est Buddy,

Don’t let your day be cruddy!

Put a smile on your face

And put your worries in their place!

Let today be fun and carefree,

Or make it anything you want it to be!

Hey Best-est Buddy,

Don’t look outside, it’s all muddy.

But in your heart, the sun still shines

(And please do laugh at these cheesy lines!)

You can brighten anyone’s day

And never cause dismay.

Hey Best-est Buddy,

Don’t let today be a nightmare that’s “bloody.”

Horror is just for Hollywood

And it’s not doomsday in Dollywood.

So don’t let things make you blue

Because, Girl! That color is just not you!
