The Little Nuisance
My dog is sleeping peacefully next to me at the moment and made me think of this one email I sent to Stacie about Ginger, my dog. We were talking about how her dog, Kirby, kept her up all night and I shared how my dog likes to keep me awake, too.
Talking about it, made me think of that previous weekend when Ginger seemed to be...bothersome.
Joy didn't want Ginger sleeping in her room because Ginger came in from outisde soaking wet and ending up leaving (practically) a puddle of water and some dirt in her bed. So she put her in my room.
And shut the door.
(Now, don't get me wrong, I ALWAYS shut my door, BUT if I know Ginger is sleeping with me that night, or that she will when she's done "roaming the house," I put one of my houseshoes between the door and wall. It's a big enough gap that she can get through, and I'm happy because my door is mostly closed and blocks out most outer noise.)
But anyways, she shut the door.
Of course, I knew nothing of this because I was sitll asleep, but I do recall feeling Ginger laying down beside me and being wet.
When my door is shut and Ginger hears the front door, hears that my family is present (by their talking), or wants to be let out, she sits in front of my door and whines, occasionally barking. I try to ignore her and sleep, but usually that lasts only a couple minutes at a time.
So eventually, she wakes me up and I'm annoyed because I'm cozy under my blankets and I don't want to get up to let her out so I yell at her and tell her to get on my bed. (Yes, I am very lazy in the mornings.)
Usually, she stops whining loudly for about 10 seconds when I do this and then thinks that if she whines softer, she won't get in trouble.
Too bad I can still hear her though!!
I keep yelling at her and force her to come close enough to my bed that I can reach over and pick her up to place her on my bed. And what does she do next? She waits till I'm done touching her and get back under the covers then jumps off my bed and goes to the door to whine again.
Finally, I'm at the point where I KNOW I won't be able to fall back asleep because I'm so awake and so annoyed, so I throw the covers off and let her out. Then I somewhat-slam my door shut so she can't get in.
Sometimes when she comes in my room from somewhere in the middle of the night, she feels like she can be lazy and make me do everything for her! She'll stand up by my bed and whine and whine and whine until I wake up and pull her up there. As usual, I don't want to move and I tell her to get up there. So she "pretends" to try to get up there by bracing for a jump going up and down about three times then stops and stares at me as if saying, "I can't do it. I will later, just pull me up now."
Eventually, she either goes away or I pull her up and try to jostle her as much as possible when she lays down on me before I can lay on my pillow again.
So does my "little nuisance" sound like anyone else's? ;P
EDIT: ...I hate it when I misspell something! :(
